Career Experience
With a cumulative of over 15 years of experience teaching people of all ages, I have discovered that being an educator and tutor is simply what I do best. Helping others achieve their academic and learning goals is my calling and passion. I first discovered my love for teaching while working as an instructor for a children's ski and snowboard school. Since then, I have worked as a k-12 curriculum designer, public school tutor, and college writing coach. This includes organizing study plans, decoding assignment objectives, and aiding students in reviewing sources to help them prepare for assignments and writing projects. My writing expertise qualifies me to help students with the various stages of differentiating writing projects. I have experience crafting initial outlines, conducting preliminary research, revising thesis statements, and finalizing the editorial process. I specialize in helping students identify the foundation of their content by showing them how to develop their strengths while accepting and embracing their challenges. I enjoy helping students to develop a clear and compelling premise for relaying the plot to their readers. I do this by encouraging writers to carefully choose the tone, style, and voice of their narration based on the intended audience. I emphasize how important producing a coherent and captivating narrative for all genres is when crafting a compelling piece. During my experience as a tutor, I've noticed many students need help more help navigating through the objectives and prompts of the assignment than the actual assignment itself. Oftentimes, students possess the skills and knowledge they need to complete the task but don't know how to organize these resources; that is where I step in. I'm good at what I do and get much fulfillment from helping others. I integrate Bloom's taxonomy and Socratic questioning techniques as a catalyst for student self-discovery and a springboard for comprehension.
I Love Tutoring Because
I love building people up and can do this by providing students with positive and constructive feedback. Building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds is the most enjoyable perk of tutoring! Recognizing different learning styles and student preferences while diagnosing student needs through active listening and questioning strategies are skills I integrate as a professional tutor.
