Career Experience
I have taught for 28 years in elementary education. Most of those years were spent teaching fourth graders, but I have also worked with students from first through sixth grade. I have taught all subjects and for several years team taught in an inclusion classroom working with students of varied levels and strengths.
I Love Tutoring Because
I enjoy working with students one on one. It is rewarding to help children figure out something new they are trying to learn. I look forward to meeting new students and encouraging them to love the process of learning.

Since this was an interview, I felt that the session was pretty monotonous but quite enriching though. Other than that, the session progressed quite slowly and never transitioned into anything specific (such as related to qualifications, academic background, etc.).

I think the purpose of general screening was met. I wouldn't have minded more time with Deb reviewing the tools used on Tutor.com, like the whiteboard and attaching documents for student review (like example essays or a PDF of guidelines for citation styles or whatever). I think I can get this experience just by logging into the classroom site and looking around, but it may have been a nice addition to the introduction/interview process.

I appreciate the time that Deb C and before her, Denise R, took to get to know me and what my beliefs about tutoring are. I sincerely hope I can be a tutor for tutor.com. In everything that I do, tutoring students is my favorite and I have many years of experience in it. I want to continue tutoring students through tutor.com. The Virtual Classroom is an incredible tool! Tutors can chat with students, draw pictures so students can understand visually, and even send emojis to describe feelings. I wasn't sure what to expect as far as how I was asked to show my understanding, but the template to take notes on the video was good. I think it is a little hidden or not highlighted enough, as I felt like I was missing something and looked around awhile before I noticed it. Somehow, the materials didn't come together well for me at first. If you are testing people to see if they can figure stuff out, then this is a good approach. If you want to make it easy on them, then there might be a more linear approach to presenting the materials that would be better.
