If you're pursuing your EMBA, chances are you're still employed — which means it's imperative to balance these responsibilities. Here are our top ten tips to fulfill all the responsibilities of your MBA programs while still pursuing your professional goals.

Managing your EMBA program

1. Make some room.

Decide how you can make room for EMBA work and activities. For example, you may put that home improvement project on hold or take a break from one or two regular social events.

2. Create some new study habits.

Set aside time for schoolwork and keep to your study schedule. This will help you finish readings and complete assignments on time—and once you've established a regular routine, it will be easier to keep it up.

3. Ask for help from your friends and family.

For example, if others can help around the house or run errands, you'll have more time to complete your schoolwork (or just relax).

4. Ask your colleagues for support at work.

If they're able to step in while you're away for an on-campus event, you'll have less work to make up when you return.

5. Bring the skills you learn back to the workplace.

Share great articles with colleagues and volunteer for leadership roles on new projects to prove your EMBA will benefit the company.

6. Learn and use better time management techniques.

For example, you might read or listen to audiobooks for class during your commute. Try to stay focused on the task at hand, as well: when you're studying, don't answer work emails, and vice versa.

7.  Build mutually supportive relationships with other students in your EMBA program.

Consider rotating administrative roles (such as team manager and editor) for group collaborations; you might even share notes and brainstorm project ideas, as long as that's allowed by your program.

8. Sleep, eat healthy, and exercise!

Without a clear mind and good health, you'll fall behind on work for both your job and your program.

9. Find out what support your EMBA program provides.

Some EMBA programs provide administrative support to students by employing a dedicated class manager who handles logistics: travel and accommodations for residency weekends, distribution of materials, scheduling, etc. Ask your program about this if you feel you might benefit from this added support.

10. Remember: Your EMBA program won't last forever.

Some EMBA programs are completed in just 18 months. The extra work you do now will give you a professional edge for the rest of your career.
