Academics

Its unique access to Latin America is a huge selling point for The School of Business Administration at the University of Miami, which offers a One-Year and Two-Year MBA program, as well as four Executive MBAs and Professional MBA. Both the One-Year and Two-Year programs are lockstep (only the Two-Year offers concentrations), and the Professional MBA offers “easy logistics to attend class for working professionals.” The curriculum is “well-structured and [has] good balance between all the different concentrations,” albeit “very fast-paced with lots of material and a moderate to heavy reading load. Though the programs are extremely career-focused, a wide range of electives is offered so that students who come to UM without specific objectives might find their paths, and the powers that be are “creative in the development of new programs that help the university expand and attract top talent.”

Professors here are “well-established, knowledgeable, and willing to help,” “are experts in their field,” and “have very high standards for student performance.” “As long as you put forth the effort, you can pass but you will only excel if you really put your mind to it,” advises a student. The administration is “extremely responsive and sensitive to the needs of the students,” and in light of recent evaluation there has been a large effort to support student interaction and socialization. Breakfast and supper are served each day of class to allow Professional MBA students to meet and network, and the school “has a lot of activities, guest speakers, and workshops for students to attend outside of class.”
