Microscopic, and yet seemingly infinitely complicated, cells are at the heart of every living organism. Every day of your life you shed millions of them without the slightest thought or concern. If you were a Cell Biology major this might not be the case, since you would know a wealth of information about cells, including their composition, their function, their parts, and probably just about anything else you could think of.
Biology is essentially the study of life in all of its varied forms. As you can guess, that’s a lot of territory for one major to cover, so fortunately we’ve got specializations. Cell Biology, as you've figured out, is one of those. It’s the study of life pinpointed down and focused upon a single, tiny, tiny, little world–the cell. As a Cell Biology major you will get all of the training of a normal biology major with an added focus on the internal and external functions of cells.
