Academics

The largest campus in the Long Island University system, LIU Post is a school that's brimming with "opportunities to further your educational experience." Whether it's "working together with professors' in research," "sharpen[ing] your skills in the school's consulting program" or participating in the "growing Greek life" on campus, there are numerous ways to develop career experience here. Importantly, students who attend LIU Post truly learn "the values of networking, getting involved in the community, and time management." And academically, undergrads benefit from "personalized attention" and "individualized instruction" as well as a "wide range" of course selection. When it comes to LIU Post professors, one grateful undergrad reports, "They are all extremely helpful. [They are] there when you need them, and they show a genuine interest in your success." Students also appreciate how many of their professors "have a career outside the classroom." In turn, this allows them to craft lessons that can easily be applied to "the real world." A majority of LIU Post instructors are also "dynamic and interesting" teachers as well as "knowledgeable" and "understanding." A current student adds, "I would not trade my professors for anything because of the passion they bring to the classroom and how much they genuinely enjoy their work."

Student Body

When asked about their peers, undergrads at LIU Post describe the student body as "hardworking, helpful, intelligent, [and] creative." They also tend to be "very friendly." As one happy student explains, "I came in as a transfer student, but I was able to make friends right away." And another individual adds, "Walking through campus you constantly see familiar faces, and there is always someone willing to talk to you. It [is] effortless to spark a conversation with someone on the Starbucks line about an upcoming event." Undergrads here also love how "diverse" their university is. As LIU Post is quite the "melting pot," you're guaranteed to find students from many "different cultures and backgrounds." In turn, this "inspires everyone else to see the world from different perspectives." LIU Post undergrads are also incredibly "dedicated" and are always looking "to get involved on campus." And students proudly report that "everyone generally gets along well with one another." As one impressed undergrad illustrates, "Athletes not only respect those who are not involved in athletics, but also study, hangout, and participate in extracurricular activities with each other, and vice versa. [Conversely,] those [who are] not on a sports team often come and support the athletes in their games and competitions."

Campus Life

Given that LIU Post is a bit of a "commuter campus," many students simply "go to class and then they go home." However, that's certainly their loss because "there are plenty of clubs to join and activities [in which] to participate." Indeed, there are "many ways to get involved" at LIU Post. For starters, a number of students are active in "athletics and intramural[s]." And many undergrads can also be found using the university's fantastic gym facilities. Additionally, "sororities and fraternities are very popular." "During the late spring and early fall, students love to go up the Patio of Hillwood Commons to lay out on the lounge chairs and soak up some sun." A handful of undergrads also participate in "various group fundraisers...like Midnight Madness or Relay for Life." And, of course, LIU students love to take advantage of the school's "free movie theater;" it's a great way to relax for a little while. Finally, undergrads here appreciate how "accessible" New York City is for them. Any time they want to experience the excitement of the city, students can simply hop on a train and be there in no time!
