Southern University at Shreveport is a two-year junior colbe more proximate to the city's business center. Today, its lege and member of the Southern University System that two campuses serve just over 3,000 students. serves a population of full-time and part-time student commuters. Programs on offer are intended for all outcomes, including transfer, vocational training, and professional advancement for working or unemployed individuals. There are 15 associate degree programs and several certification and technical programs. Classes are offered online or at one of three academic centers throughout the city, including the university's Aerospace Technology Center at the Shreveport Downtown Airport, which occupies two aircraft hangars and places classroom space in the main terminal. Many programs are designed for direct entry into the workforce (such as Accounting, Hospitality Management, and EMT-Paramedic training), whereas some are designated as Louisiana Transfer degrees, with the goal of transferring to a four-year institution to work toward a bachelor's degree as seamlessly as possible. The Center for Student Success offers a First Year Experience program that prepares students for the transition to college, and all students who find themselves struggling have full access to Success Coaches who can provide individualized advice and guidance.
