Academics

Stockton University offers “a warm and welcoming environment to help students grow academically and socially.” It’s the sort of school, according to undergrads, that “will go above and beyond to make sure a student is settled and comfortable.” To do this, the school offers a relatively low price tag, a location students love, and small class sizes that “make student-teacher interaction … simple and easy compared to large lecture halls.” Those conversations are enhanced by wonderful teachers that are “helpful, informative, and willing to do anything for you to succeed outside and inside the class.” (The faculty is also said to “give great life advice.”) Overall, professors come off as “pleasant and down-to-earth,” and appear to be “truly in love with their careers and [act as though] they truly care about their students.”

The classroom’s not the only place to get a Stockton education. Undergrads note that the school’s programs “offer lots of hands-on, real-world experience” through “research, internships, and on-campus jobs.” Two such examples are the “good partnerships with the FAA and Atlanticare Hospital that create a lot of internships.”

Student Body

The student body at Stockton has plenty of words to describe themselves, including: “unique,” “friendly,” “casual,” and “welcoming.” While some definitely bemoan the fact that there are “few students who come from surrounding states and even fewer who come from further away,” others stress that their peers are still “very diverse and different from one another.” It’s a large school, and some claim that “you never see the same person twice.” Even still, one student claims that “everyone feels comfortable around one another” at Stockton. That includes students of any age, which one student supports by adding, “I [think] Stockton is a great school for people of any age to come back to in order to get a degree later in life.” Then again, perhaps it’s easy to get along when these “curious,” “hard working” students “all share a common goal: to succeed.”

Campus Life

You’ll have plenty of opportunities for socializing at Stockton: Students frequently “congregate in the main campus center … or in the food court where you can eat with your friends and watch TV.” Plus, there are “lots of fun and free events” on campus, including bingo, craft, and movie nights. Those looking for exercise are also pleased, as “people take advantage of the trails” around campus and “utilize the gym … all the time.” For more outdoor fun, “you can rent hammocks … on campus, as well as camping gear, kayaks, and canoes all for free.” And even those who are seeking some entertainment off-campus will not be disappointed: Ocean City and Atlantic City are both close enough that students often take trips over the weekend. Note that since “the school has a lot of commuters,” you might find “there aren’t a lot of people on campus during the weekends.”
