Career Experience
I worked as a tutor in my university writing center from 2016-2018, assisting peers with writing assignments from cover letters to senior research. In 2020, I returned to my alma mater to serve as the writing center coordinator for the spring semester. From there, I went on to work as a graduate teaching associate in writing and rhetoric, having tutored in the university writing center and served as the instructor of record for first-year composition. I have conducted extensive research on tutoring students with disabilities, including deaf students who use sign language, students with learning disabilities, and students on the autism spectrum.
I Love Tutoring Because
individualized instruction is vital to ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. As an exceptional student myself, I have greatly benefited from individual support in the classroom and outside it, and I recognize the value of one-on-one tutoring in providing that individual focus. I also believe strongly in the importance of effective written communication, especially for those who struggle with communicating in other ways. My goals as a tutor are to help students to become better writers and to improve their ability to express themselves in writing.
