Career Experience
In college, I was a math and chemistry tutor. Being a tutor was so enjoyable, as I got to interact with students wanting help in courses as well as tips for navigating through college. Connecting with students gives them and the tutor shared skills of communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking. I also spent time as a peer mentor to incoming freshmen during one summer. In that role, I spent a lot of time working with them sharing advice and my experiences in college. I also assisted in teaching a class about the tools students need to navigate through their four years. Both roles have taught me that being a leader means being compassionate, dependable, and patient.
I Love Tutoring Because
I get to help students understand concepts in courses that I love so much. When a student finally understands a topic completely, it is great being there and sharing that moment with them. As students get help in courses, they become more independent and try figuring out problems themselves before seeking help. This shows how a tutor's influence can change a student's study habits and make the tutor-student relationship stronger.
