Career Experience

I have many years of experience working in customer service and retail jobs, which taught me how to interact with a variety of people and situations. Within that, I spent a year supervising arts and craft events with children, which was an enjoyable teaching experience! I am a recent college graduate; my academic career focused on English literature, particularly in 1800s American literature and new historicism. I also received minors in linguistics and German, while gaining some background in education. I have spent the past two years tutoring at the college I attended, where I aided first year college students with college-level writing and adjusting to college life. I occasionally tutored students in beginner to intermediate level German courses, as well.

I Love Tutoring Because

it is the most satisfying experience for me when I can work through a concept with a tutee that they were struggling with! As someone who is studying to become a teacher, the chance to work closely, one on one, with students is an opportunity I take seriously. I love being able to challenge myself to find multiple ways to explain a concept and/or solve a problem so that everyone can comprehend. I truly think there is nothing better than helping others find their connection to the world of composition and literature!
